Dear Santa,
I would very much like a 2017 Alfa Romeo Giulia Quadrifoglio for Christmas 2017 cos I know I’ve been good.
Alfa Romeo has released the long-awaited US spec sheet for the 2017 Alfa Romeo Giulia Quadrifoglio (Cloverleaf for those who are wondering) before at the Los Angeles Auto Show. Even if Santa gets my letter the launch date is slated for late in the second quarter of the fiscal year 2016.
Is it an M3 Killer?
It certainly could be. Built in Italy, the Giulia Quadrifoglio Delivers Class-leading 505 Horsepower, 443 pound-feet of torque, and a claimed 0-60 in 3.8 Seconds as well as storming around the Nürburgring in 7:39, the fastest ever by a four-door production sedan. It has Ferrari DNA too, sporting a bi-turbo V-6 that makes the Giulia Quadrifoglio the most powerful Alfa Romeo production car ever, one that is capable of a 191 mph top speed. The V6 version will also feature cylinder deactivation to help fuel economy numbers. In addition to the range topping Giulia Quadrifoglio, there will be less powerful versions of the Giulia. From as early as next summer there will be a 2.0-liter direct injection I4 that delivers 276 horsepower, and will have an available all-wheel drive system. That’s more power than all of its rivals.
Classed as a premium mid size sedan, not only is it rear wheel drive but is offered with a 6 speed manual transmission as an option, something the Alfa 4C sadly lacks. The Giulia Quadrifoglio gets some impressive technology to keep all that power under control, including an active front splitter controlled by two electronic actuators, a carbon fiber rear spoiler, torque-vectoring limited-slip differential, and adaptive damping. Brembo four-pot calipers all around are stock but if you want to lose some more weight carbon ceramics are on the options list providing six-piston Brembos in front and four-piston Brembos in back. The carbon fiber hood and roof, and extensive aluminum doors and fenders help provide a “near 50/50 weight distribution.
Competitors
We like aggressive looks and it’s different enough to be able to woo buyers away from the BMW M3, Cadillac ATS=V and Mercedes C63 AMG. We can’t wait to drive it.
All-new 2017 Alfa Romeo Quadrifoglio begins production for North America late in the second-quarter of 2016 with a starting U.S. Manufacturer’s Suggested Retail Price (MSRP) of around $70,000
