The 2016 North American International Auto Show in Detroit has revealed new sports cars, luxury vehicles, pickup trucks and an electric one from the industry’s biggest players.

In our humble opinion these are the Hottest Cars From The Detroit Auto 2016:

2017 Lincoln Continental

The Lincoln Continental is back. The concept car that we saw at the New York Auto Show back in the spring of 2015 has now evolved into a production-ready car. Credit to Ford that they have kept the styling largely the same.

It’s not a sports sedan as such but it does have a decent powerplant. A projected 400 horsepower and 400 lb.-ft. of torque, provided by a twin-turbo 3.0-liter V6. Available all-wheel-drive features rear-axle torque vectoring, cheaper models make do with front-wheel-drive. A drive mode selector offers three options (Comfort, Normal, and Sport), each with tweaks to the suspension and optional adaptive steering systems.

Chevrolet Bolt

We still don’t know how much range the new Chevy Bolt will be able to achieve but it will be at least 200 miles. We do know, however, that the battery will offer  60 kWh . You’ll get 50 miles of range in “under two hours” with a standard 240-volt charger (or a full charge overnight). Connect it to a DC Fast Charger, and you can put 90 miles into the battery in half an hour. Not too bad.

That battery system is hooked up to a 200-horsepower motor with 266 lb-ft of torque that promises a 0-60 mph run of less than seven seconds. This is as tad faster than the Chevy Spark which has 400 ft -lbs but spins its front wheels into oblivion.

2017 Mercedes E-Class

In the US market at launch, the new E-Class will feature a turbocharged 2.0-liter four-cylinder gasoline engine with 241 hp and 273 lb-ft of torque. Further model variants will be added to the range after the market launch. All E-Class models available at market launch will be equipped with the new 9G-TRONIC nine-speed automatic transmission as standard equipment. This advanced transmission enables both fast gearshifts and low engine revs while cruising, which provides improvements in both efficiency and interior noise levels.

A new AMG will likely be coming — along with a plug-in hybrid.

The new E-Class launches in the US in mid-2016.

Buick Avista

Perhaps the biggest surprise of the show is the Avista concept which is a very good looking 2+2 coupe and as a bonus gets a 400-hp twin-turbo 3.0-liter V6 to make good on the subtle threats issued by its mean glare. The engine sends power to the rear wheels through an eight-speed automatic transmission. The car has GM’s Magnetic Ride Control, active fuel management (cylinder deactivation) and stop/start technologies.

Lexus LC 500

Based on the LF-LC concept that debuted right here at NAIAS several years ago, This new LC is not based on the lesser Lexus RC coupe, but they do share an engine: Lexus’ 5.0 liter, naturally aspirated V8. Its good for 467 horsepower @ 7,300 rpm and 389 lb-ft @ 4,800 rpm.  It’s paired to a new 10-speed automatic transmission, which Lexus says is nearly as fast as the dual-clutch arrangement favored by some other companies. This should make for a 0-60 run of around 4.5 seconds.
