Aston Martin has revealed the  DB9 GT – the luxury British sports car maker’s most compelling production ‘DB’ to date. Designed to offer the best of what DB9 can be, the new car delivers world-class grand touring and hand-built excellence.

The all-alloy, quad overhead cam, 48-valve 5,935 cc front mid-mounted V12 has had its power output increased to 540 hp at 6750rpm and peak torque to 457 lb- ft at 5500rpm. That gets the GT to 0-62 mph a tad faster faster, in 4.5 seconds, with top speed remaining at 183mph. The V12’s is still mated to the same six-speed paddle-shift gearbox found in other DB9s, and uses three-stage adaptive dampers with Normal, Sport and Track modes.

It is now the most powerful DB9 yet and will form part of Aston Martin’s impressive presence at this week’s Goodwood Festival of Speed.

Aston martin has added the AMi II touch-sensitive Aston Martin infotainment system. While AMi debuted on the range-topping Vanquish at its launch, AMi II offers a revised menu structure which makes using the system even more user-friendly.

DB9 GT’s AMi II infotainment package offers text message integration, vehicle status information and extended background themes for greater personalization.

Apart from the subtle GT badges, this new DB9 is identified by black painted splitter and diffuser, revised headlight and tail light treatments and new ten-spoke 20-inch alloy wheels. Black anodised brake calipers and a GT engraving on the aluminum fuel filler cap further distinguish the new model.

Options, for those who wish to further personalze their car, include carbon fiber tail lamp inserts, side strakes, front splitter and rear diffuser; graphite, diamond-turned ten-spoke alloy wheels and alternative brake caliper colors.

Inside, the Aston is still a 2+2 with token rear seats. The seats now  boast ‘GT’ embroidery on the unique fluted leather. An iridium trim pack and Alcantara-wrapped steering wheel (Coupe only) further distinguish the new car.

A broad array of options inside the DB9 GT include various center console finishes such as Ice Mocha and Copper Cuprum, while other interior options include Duotone leather seats, door inserts and head linings; and a One-77-inspired steering wheel design. The DB9 GT will be available as either a coupe or open-top Volante.

It’s not the only Aston Martin receiving some attention, though, because the 2016 model year examples of both the V8 Vantage and Rapide S also get the AMi II system. They benefit from new color and upholstery options, as well.

The DB9 GT weighs no more than the standard DB9 coupé, at 1785kg. In open-top Volante form, the DB9 GT is 1890kg.

The GT is a last upgrade for the DB9 before it’s replaced by an all-new model, most likely to be called the DB11 in 2017.

The DB9 GT is now available to order in markets around the world, priced from £140,000 (UK).

The Aston Martin DB9 GT is available to order now, starting at $199,950. It may look remarkable similar to the existing DB9 but if it ain’t broke then don’t fix it. It is 10 years old but in our opinion looks properly good looking.
